Laser Wipeout at Willows
|
|
Plunged into the semi darkness of the playing arena you sense movement.
Lights flash. Smoke swirls. The music pounds. Suddenly a shadow comes to life. A bright
red laser beam cuts through the darkness and barely missies you. Your heart pounds as you
race for cover with your laser gun and return fire deactivating your enemy sniper.

The scene was set in a different dimension, where enemies lurk in the dark
recesses, old disused and dark building were now the home of the latest Laser War, where
weapons where that of state of the art laser hardware, and those chosen must depend on
their reflexes to survive. Around 16 members dared to face the ultimate challenge followed
by 6 leaders to keep the injuries even. For 1 hour (3 Games each) members were thrown into
the darkness of the battlefield and the maze of twisted carnage and rooms and hidden
tunnels, no flashing yet blinding lights, sounds of eerie music and victims, not knowing
where enemy will strike it was certainly felt like a battle zone. All members and leaders
enjoyed the skill, thrill and excitement that came with it. The second red team (D) seemed
to be sitting ducks as they were ambushed, Yellows (C) were Top Guns with skill and A and
B were 2nd and third. As the dust settled, victims gathered and the war ended. Both
members and leaders returned to there base and reality of the centres lounge for the
second hour of the Megazone Party. Where both members and leaders sat and talked or played
pool, the SNES, Table football or just relaxed in front of the Large T.V. Drinks and food
were provided (youth Club Style Hour).
The feedback received was for more. A mixture of fun, war, laser and Youth Club was a
perfect combination and a great night to finish on. Hopefully next time more girls will
join in our

 |
| The club has had a great finish to 2000 with a great start.
The records show that we have had no less than 20 members (from Sept-Dec) with the highest
attendance of 42. Please note out max is 30 but sometimes will go over. We have also seen
the return of the membership Cards and in Feb will be strict and a new system, so listnen
out. Sept Nov isnt really enough to review as most was Sports, games, videos and
variety night due to leaders being over busy. Yet plans have been made for 2001 and in the
works. 6 questionnaires which were sent to all 30 members were returned and being looked
into. Yet we would welcome further feedback anytime. Though we have seen a rise in
numbers a few problems have arisien, some members are feeling left out and not enough is
happening to activate all members, this is being looked into and will change with
workshops, video screen, multimedia and more Team challenge nights.
Ideas are needed for summer2001 (June-July) and Easter Special if you wish to help
organise the nights see Paul.
