As we entered we were given our tickets and a brief guide. For most of the first part the costumed gaoler, warder and fellow prisoner kept a watchful eye for those sentenced to hard labour, each one gave there own tour and information on what life was like, in some parts (mainly the final part where we came upto date with crime and Punishment) we were let loose to roam the rest of the galleries, updated prison, Hanging and the crime today.  We sat in the original court room and watched a lively trial take place. Saw what live would be like in a 18th Century prison, laundry and the way they were treated, worked. Also Crime and punishment from past to Now.
Also included was the Pit, the fascinating graffiti covered walls of the exercise yard and in the chilling last views from the gallows, covering punishments suffered through the centuries, the voyages of those transported to a new continent and the role of prisons in society.

All members enjoyed parts of the tour and many have placed their bookings for part two and future visits. Leader including our guest Gavin also enjoyed the tour. Overall it was a great Saturday afternoon which all enjoyed

REVIEW

The New Year and New Millennium started off in a great way with a high of 25 members, for the next few weeks it saw a steady increase of new members with some who started in December returning. The attendance stayed around 18-25 for Jan and Feb.

The month had around 18-25 members and was mostly Games and sports. The Friday group was mostly sports as we came to the end of the program and not to mention the sports challenge night which went quite well so it will return.

There was also the introduction of New Equipment such as a Laser Pack (armour and Laser gun (4 packs)), which will mean that you will be introduced to a Laser Challenge. Also a multimedia Projector, Table Football and updating/repairing needed equipment.

The Sunday Group had fun as well with a steady start, a Theme night - J2000, a service at Heanor as well as a quiz and a Games night.
