LH in a David v Galieth

On October 6th 96 Notts. road BIG F members took there team and skill to Carlton Forum for the annual sporting event. the MAYC District Sports - Nottinghamshire v Derbyshire, all clubs compete for the cup, and a chance to represent there district in the Northern district and the national five-a-side competition. The team consisted of Alex Havill, Ian kitchen, Johnathan Ford, Mark Gregory, Michael Sowersby, Paul Barfield (Captain) and Paul Wylie (goalkeeper). By now you will know but as this Newsletter is late here is a small report.

They all played well with many tries and attempts, with Mark and Michael only just coming into the action as they had only joined the club on Friday before, yet did well all the way through.

There were 3 leagues (2 serious and one fun) and we were in the serious league and had four matches to play. Other teams included Derwent, Mickleover, Nuthall and Beavers.

Despite losing most of the matches by 2-0, there was plenty of action in the last three with a good performance by Mark, Alex , Paul and Ian with all nearly scoring. Alex lifted spirits high on and off the pitch by scoring the only goal in the last match, which also had other clubs cheering them on in a desperate bid to beat the Beavers. Yet there was still plenty of targets made and near misses, with excellent skill and team work by all with P. Barfield. as the captain. and with excellent goal keeping by P. Wylie who helped to keep the score line level.

1-1 was the final score,

Well done everyone who took part and supported us and Nott's Road

All teams had an advantage over BIG F as most of the players were taller than them and 2 years alder. But all coped and did there best

OK, they all enjoyed themselves and you may agree it was a great afternoon altogether,

Back home the following Friday all were awarded with a Certificate for participating in the match and achievement which all leaders think you well deserve

Well done all
