The night was still, and nothing stirred in the Centre of Ilkeston,
yet it was on SATURDAY 27TH FEBRUARY 1999 -
when Ilkeston was to see the start of Something Different, where it
was to be the BEGINING of a New Venture
From the courners of Ilkeston came the cries of the Youth for a NEW
YOUTH EVENT, so it was then the Leaders of serveral Churches got
together and came up with
XTREME -
A All New Youth Event formend by the Ilkeston and District Youth
Leaders.
Youth Leaders from in and around
Ilkeston came together for the first of a series of youth events with a difference.
To provide a place for Christians and non-Christians to come together and show that being
a Christian does not have to be boring. Also that its not all prayer, hymns and bible.
Within an environment familiar to their lifestyles over 70-80 young people
descended onto the market Place and entred St Marys Church for what
they where to see was far from there expectations. From popular
music, live band, singing, dancing, drama and much more, membes were
overwhealmend and listning to their comments it was set in motion and
hopes where high.
So Ilkeston had seen the birth
of a New Youth Event and the Start of something Big, But there where
challenges ahead and things to overcome, for this was just the begining
of something >>>>>
