FEED BACK and REPORT for XTREME and OXYGEN

XTREME is a Christian and Non Christian youth alternative worship event.
The event was created and run by youth workers from a number of Youth Groups in the Ilkeston and district area. Most of the event was run by the Queens, Nottingham Road and St Andrews Methodist Church Crew (David Shirtcliffe, Paul Preston, Ken) with help from other groups.

Xtreme follows its mission statement by transforming part of the church into a dancefloor area using modern high-tech equipment such as effects lighting, quality sound system, and computer/video projections. This is done to provide a place that today's youth culture are familiar with and can relate to. It is to show todays youth that being a Christian doesn't mean being boring, and its not all hyms, prayer and bible reading.
The church pews are taken out and replaced by scaffolding towers with disco and stage lights with a dance area, the sound, lighting and band on the edge of the dance floor. The youths can look onwards at the giant backdrops for video projection and silhouetted drama and projection of the somg words.
The music used is a mixture of todays music, mixed in with the newest Christian music, including DC Talk. Bringing this type of music back to God away from all the drugs and alcohol abuse in clubs is an important aspect to show people that it can be used in worshipping Jesus. Visuals are projected onto the walls via computer to aid in the worship. The event incorporates a theme to every event (e.g. love) and we do this by using projected video along with one of our youth workers talking about the theme.

Youth Leaders from in and around Ilkeston came together for the first of a series of youth event with a difference.
To provide a place for Christians and non-christians to come together and show that being a Christian does not have to be boring. Also that its not all prayer, hymns and bible.
Within an environment familiar to their lifestyles.
