London Weekend is the key event in the lives of thousands of young people. It is
also a major source of inspiration for those who work with young people.
There are many reasons why London Weekend is the biggest and best Christian youth event.
Here are ten of them:
- It helps you feel part of a huge, lively, vibrant, joyful Church.
- It is a safe but exciting place, away from home, for young people to experience new
things and different ideas.
- It shows that God is for and with young people.
- It is a highlight in your life, to be talked about and remembered.
- It inspires you with creative ideas for worship, drama, music and action.
- It builds your youth group and develops a team spirit.
- It is a huge opportunity to meet many different people from all over the United Kingdom
and beyond.
- It helps develop young peoples confidence.
- It explores and challenges major issues affecting young people.
- It will galvanise you to want to change the church and the world, this year focusing on
Burma.
London Weekend changes lives and motivates young people like nothing else in Methodism.
Fairground
A staggering 92% of the 6,500 who came to London Weekend 1997 said they wanted to come
back. The Show was described by many as the best ever. Sunday morning worship was warmly
welcomed back to the Royal Albert Hall. Scream challenged the parts no other event would
dare to! The final rally in Trafalgar square was featured on BBC1 with its colour,
enthusiasm and praise of God.
London Weekend is constantly changing. What will not change is great music, a great
atmosphere, and a life-changing, youth group-changing, you- changing, God-celebrating
weekend!
London Weekend is....
A celebration of being young and of the best of what a Christian Faith can offer and
demand of young people.
Concerned with human rights - the world should be a fair place. The focus of this years
World Action project will be Burma.
Simply great fun, a place to be your friends, without pressure, with great company.
