MAYC District Camp

2006

This year we tried out the District Camp. Nott's Road joined up with St Andrews (sister church) for the weekend to build up the numbers.

FRIDAY

We left the church about 6:45 due to the bus being late. When we got there we had to find a place on the campsite and put the tents up, except the first tent we put up was not all there. The problem was that one pole was missing, we also found a pole in the tent that wasn't the one that we wanted, then we found that the guide wasn't there, so we used string.

After a while the tents apart Ian's and David's where up. We then put all the equipment and bags in our tents, except but one gas cooker which Ian had ran over, which ended up to be Rob's

The first thing on the programme for the weekend was a get together, which never happened. we had the patal solo most of the night, we then all had to be in the Marquee which was for about half an hour. Afterwards we had the bonfire which everyone just talked and walked around, either with their or other groups on the camp.

About 2:30am in the early morning everyone went to sleep, well we tried but we had Ian, Ivan, Gareth, Paul B, and Rob playing Cards in there tent, (which was also the kitchen), then Jody came and joined in, after, we all went to sleep.

Saturday

Well Saturday was a good start, everyone was up before 7:00am and we had David cooking Toast and making tea, where as Ian was cooking sausage, Beans and fried bread. After, Jody and Ian ended up washing pots with Ian in the back of the van, while Keep Fit was on, no one from our group whent to.

About 9:30am we was all back in the Marquee for worship, then the main event started and we had to decorate the marquee which looked nice when we finished it.

Then about 12:15pm Jody and Ian went back to Ilkeston to fetch Sarah. We got back about 30mins before the afternoon event - Its A Knock Out (2:00) -. Meanwhile David headed back for a Birthday party.

We had all the lads and Cindy (who was from another group) from both groups doing Its a Knock Out while Sarah and Jody were in the tent reading Magazines. The lads including Cindy won the Knock Out on the last game despite being below 6th for the entire event, Yet came back by scoring highest points in the final round which was enough to claim win..camp.GIF (631006 bytes)

At about 6:00pm we had tea, which was golden turkey with pasta, but Ian and Chris tried to find a chip shop and found one, finally, (Note this site is a far way from the nearest village,) then on there way back they got lost, but found the camp finally.

We then had to be in the Marquee by 8:00pm which we went up to watch people make fools of themselves, after the cabaret we had the Barn Disco where Ian, Ivan, Rob, Sue, Paul P, Jody and Phil were dancing all night. mean while we had the 4 love birds walking around the campsite, inwhich no one knew were they were, we found one pair in Robs tent on there own and we didn't know where the 2nd pair were but found them in Ian's tent.

Jody was surpposed to lock the lads in the tent but instead Jody ended up locking Sarah and Ashley in the tent yet let them out after five min

Sunday

Well the day wasn't bad after all, Jody and Ian ended up cooking sausage, beans and fried egg, the we had to cook toast for the others

After cooking breakfast Ian and Jody (the only ones being brave) did keep fit and made fools of each other.

We then put the tents down while some whent to the Morning Praise, after the MP the lads started to play Rounders with DYC.

While the lads were playing Ian, Rob, Sue and Jody were getting dinner ready, Sarah and Ashley, Paul B and Cindy were walking around or watching others. But still ended up in tents and stayed there all the way through dinner. We all then went to worship for about one hour. Afterwards we made saw everything was packed plus said our goodbys and then came home.
